Genexis, a leading provider of innovative broadband solutions, is proud to announce that it has received BBF.247 certification for its latest XGS-PON products, including our FiberBox XGS2110 and our custom XGS-PON ONTs for KPN (the incumbent operator in the Netherlands).

The certification underscores Genexis’ commitment to industry standards, delivering high-quality, interoperable broadband solutions that meet the evolving needs of operators and consumers.

The BBF.247 certification is a globally recognized standard that facilitates multi-vendor interoperability in Passive Optical Networks (PON), offering service providers and broadband consumers the flexibility and choice they need. This certification is a key indicator of PON Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) software maturity.

“Receiving the BBF.247 certification for our XGS-PON products is a significant milestone,” said Martijn Rooijakkers, Head of FTTH Products at Genexis. “The certification highlights our commitment to open and interoperable solutions, supporting operators and service providers like KPN in delivering superior broadband experience to their customers.”

While the BBF.247 certification lays a strong foundation for multi-vendor interoperability, Genexis recognizes that seamless interoperability into a specific fiber network environment often requires additional network integration. To address this, Genexis has created TrueTalk™ – a sophisticated auto-sensing software solution that is compatible with more than 10 different OLT brands. This solution is successfully deployed in over 100 operator networks across Europe and North America. By automating the configuration process, TrueTalk™ significantly reduces the time and effort required for network integration, enabling operators to achieve optimal performance with their chosen OLTs.

For operators, the BBF.247 certification not only confirms the maturity and reliability of Genexis’ XGS-PON ONTs, but also serves as an essential tool in markets where consumers have the freedom to choose their routers and ONTs. Operators can mandate that only BBF.247 certified ONTs are allowed to connect to their networks, thereby preventing potential issues caused by low-quality, non-compliant devices.
